Puppeteers of America Regional Festival List

There are several Puppeteers of America Regional Festivals this year, and it’s never too early to start thinking about what you want to attend. The current list with dates, locations, and links is provided below. While none are terribly close to the southeast, the Great Plains and Puppet Homecoming festivals aren’t too far off (Sorry, no indication yet as to whether or not there will be a Southeast Regional this year.)

The master list with more details can be found on the Puppeteers of America website.

Pacific Southwest: Pacific Southwest Puppet Fest

In conjunction with the Santa Barbara International PuppetPalooza Festival

March 1-4 : Santa Barbara, California

Pacific Northwest: Puppet Power

WP Puppet Theatre’s biennial Conference on Applied Puppetry

June 1-3 : Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Great Plains: Great Plains Puppet Train

September 13-16 : West Liberty, Iowa

Northeast and Mid-Atlantic: Puppet Homecoming

In conjunction with Puppets in the Green Mountains Festival

September 20-23 : Brattleboro, Vermont

Great Plains Puppet Train – Midwest Regional Festival

The Great Plains Puppet Train is returning to West Liberty, Iowa, September 13-18, 2018. While this is the Midwest region’s festival, it’s not too far off for at least some of our southeast region members, and looks like it will be a lot of fun, set in a very small, historic, midwestern town. I attended the 2015 midwest regional festival in St. Louis (Great Regional Puppet Festival) and in my opinion it really lived up to its name (my report about the 2015 festival can give you an idea of what it was like.)

The call for performances and workshops is open now until March 1st. See the festival website for full details.
